Solution Manager Technical Monitoring for Email (SCOT/SOST)

Purpose:

Currently email monitoring is not delivered in a standard SAP delivered Technical Monitoring template. Below are the steps for setting up two custom metrics and one custom alert in Solution Manager Technical Monitoring for monitoring failed and queued email messages. Steps are based on a SolMan 7.1 SP14 system.

Managed System

By default the SAPconnect data is not collected in CCMS. It must be enabled first so that it can be used in Solution Manager

 

1. Tx RZ21, under Methods, select Method definitions. Click Display Overview

2. Search for SAPconnect - create it if it doesn’t exist or edit the existing with the following

Name: SAPconnect

Description: Data Collection method for SAPconnect

Function Module: BCOMAL_SXDS

Parameters:
Optional - refer to note 683974. The example below is based on monitoring two clients for email. our scenario we are interested in      failed and queued messages going back a week.

CLIENT: Client(s) to be monitored.

MONITOR: W - Status Waiting, E - Status Error

ADDR_TYPES: INT - Email

STARTDAY_E: Number of days back to Monitor

3. Tx RZ20 > SAP CCMS Technical Expert Monitors > All Monitoring Contexts

4. Look for entry BusinessCommunication. If an entry exists:

    • Menu Extras > Activate maintenance function
    • Select the BusinessCommunication node
    • Menu Edit > Nodes (MTE) > Reset. Confirm Yes and Continue.
    • Select the BusinessCommunication node again.
    • Menu Edit > Notes (MTE) > Delete. Select Option 4 and confirm with Yes.
    • The BusinessCommuncation node will be removed.

    Note: Anytime changes are made to the SAPconnect Method you need to Reset and Delete the Businss Communcation node.

5. To start the initial collections go to tx SCOT. Menu Utilities > Alert Monitor > Start Data Collection Method.

6. View the data collections from SCOT. Menu Utilities > Alert Monitor > Display. Select SAPConnect.

    Note: Alternatively use tx RZ20 to view

    Note: The collector will run automatically every 10 minutes. This can be viewed/updated in the properties

7. Verify the data in the collectors is correct. If the data is incorrect then the data sent to SolMan will also be incorrect. Sometimes the collectors need to run     a few times before they are right - or they need to be deleted and recreated again.

 

SolMan Technical Monitoring

 

1. Tx SM_WORKCENTER > SAP Solution Manager: Configuration > Technical Monitoring (System Monitoring)

2. Go to Step > Template Maintenance

3. In the Templates section Open up Technical System > Open the SAP ABAP Custom Template. Example below is RH1-SAP ABAP 7.10 and higher:

4. Switch to Edit Mode and open Expert Mode

 

Create Custom Metrics

2. Enter the following values for Failed Email messages

         

  Note: The Data Collector values are from the SAPconnect CCMS monitor and are case/space sensitive! For failed messages - SAPconnect Error

3. Create a second Metric for Queued Messages (SAPconnect Queue):

     Note: Thresholds may need to be adjusted based on the frequency of your email send job.

Test Custom Metrics

 

Test the Metrics to confirm they are working as expected:

Create Custom Alert

1. Create a Custom Alert with the following properties

     Note: Select Do not Group Individual Occurrences so alerts are continually generated until the issue is resolved. This means an email will eventually come          out when the email server comes back online.

              

 

              

2. Save and apply the configuration to the managed object.

3. Save and Apply and Activate:

         

 

Monitoring

The data should show up in Technical monitoring within 10 minutes.

Note: There will be some delay for data to reflect SOST - the collector in the managed system runs every 10 minutes and the collector in SolMan runs every 10 minutes.

         


SQL error 53: Named Pipes Provider: Could not open a connection to SQL Server[53] during Solution Manager Managed System Configuration

I created SQL server login(PRD_SAPMonitor) in SQL server 2012(SAP Note 1458291 - SolMan 7.1 Database Warehouse & Alerting for MSSQL

).

 

Creating a SQL Server login.

These instructions are for SQL Server 2008.  Other releases are very similar.

  1. NOTE: This login must be created in the target SQL Server instance that you want to monitor. If your SolMan system runs on SQL Server, do *not* create this login in the local SolMan system.
  2. In SQL Server Management Studio, open Object Explorer and expand the folder of the server instance in which to create the new login.
  3. First make sure the SQL Server is configured for SQL Server authentication.  Right-click on the server, choose Properties and then click on Security.  Choose "SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode". Click OK.
  4. Right-click the Security folder, point to New, and then click Login.
  5. On the General page, enter a name for the new login in the Login name box.
  6. Select SQL Server Authentication and enter a password for the login. Select the password policy options that should be applied to the new login.
  7. Choose the database you want to monitor as the default database.
  8. Choose the Server Roles page and check "sysadmin".
  9. Choose the User Mapping page and select the database you want to monitor and select the db_owner role membership for the database.
  10. Click OK.

 

I am able to login using PRD_SAPMonitor(SQL Authentication) in SQL Server 2012

 

 

Then, I setup DBA Cockpit in Manage System Config.

 

 

But I encounter below error:

 

SQL error 53: Named Pipes Provider: Could not open a connection to SQL Server[53]

 

Please help.

System role for Project in SAP Solution Manager.

Hi,

 

I am working with Solution Documentation in Solution Manager 7.1. I want to know about the "Leading System Role" for a Project.

 

1) Is the System role for any Project user specific? That is if I set it to "Production" than will any other user accessing the project find it in "Production" role or he will be displayed the role which he has set?

 

2) If it is user specific that is different for different user than can I have any way to control it? That is, if set it to "Production" then all the users accessing it will find it in "Production" and not in any other role like "Development" or QAS.

TBOM and BPCA for portal transactions

Hello,

 

Can we create TBOM for portal transaction.

As per standard document TBOM is only possible for

  • BSP application
  • CRM WebClient application
  • SAP application URL (SAP_LONG_URL)
  • Program
  • SAP CRM people-centric UI application
  • Transaction


But our all portal transactions are with URL executable types.


Can we run BPCA for portal transaction.

Disable Read Receipt in Emails for Incident Management

Hi Team,

 

Our Solution Manager system is on Solution Manager 7.1 SPS 14. We have configured ITSM Scenario Incident Management and we have

configured Emails Notifications to different stakeholders.But, unfortunately, when Email Notifications are triggered it prompts

for Read receipts. We use Microsoft Outlook for Emails. We have done required configuration in SCOT to disable "Read receipts" in Email

Notification but the issue is still occurring.Can you please suggest what other configuration potentially needs to be done to disable "Read Receipt" in Emails.

Hi Experts,


I am facing error in Solman system after system rename activity.After logging into system, putting tocde STMS in 000 client.

I am getting below error during TMS configuration:-

"Object SCWB_CONFIRM_MANUAL_ACTIONS in language EN does not exist"

Please help for this issue.

Oracle.exe takes 100% CPU while Using Solution manager

Hello Experts,

 

We are using Solution manager 7.1 Sp13.(Windows 2008 64 bit., Processor : AMD Opteron 6274 )

We have observed 100% CPU usage when ever we use the following things in solution manager

 

1.While Creating a New technical System in SLD(in browser) - we see 100% CPU.

2.While using the MOPZ from SOLMAN_WORKCENTER.

3.when we Use LMDB( like .. searching the product system according to Product version screen.) .

 

Once it reaches 100% it never comes Down, even we close all which mentioned above.

CHARM - Project Cycle, Development with release

Hi All,

 

We are implementing CHARM for our landscape and  during testing for normal changes (SMDV) with project cycle as Development with release, it allows us to import and cross the test phase and to import to production without the cycle change. However if we change the status manually to TEST, it works fine and import to production is not allowed.

 

Also is there a way avoid the manual project cycle changes and also can we have custom message for change project cycle after status changes, say from development phase to test phase.

APM WebView missing node with SID

Hi All,

I performed managed system configuration for several system in landscape all went reletive fine.

If I start webview I can not see for one system node with SID see attached screen.

 

What part of configuration did I miss or whats wrong?

CBTA test configuration script is not picking TDC (test data container)

Hi All,

 

-created CBTA test configuration script (test csript and TDC)

-when we execute the above test configuration its picking the data from TDC.

Now

 

-we have created test package and added the above test configuration script to test package .

-when we run test package from the tester work list its picking the default values not from TDC.

 

can any one help how to use TDC from test packages

EWA Report for JAVA systems are grayed out

Hi Folks,

 

Our landscape is having all the EWA Reports for ABAP systems complete, and with proper status. But, few JAVA systems are grayed out. By grayed out, I mean, i ab able to download the EWA report, but the overall rating is grayed out.

 

Below are the findings:

 

1. EWA Report is getting generated.

2. Individual components are having a rating, though not all the data is getting properly in the EWA Report.

3. Managed System Configuration in Solution Manager is fine, with all green symbols.

4. EWA Section was re-triggered, and it also went fine.

5. Relevant extractor framework are also fine.

 

Please help me on this, since I do not have much idea about EWA for JAVA systems.

Unable to find task /TMWFLOW/SCMA_TRORDER_CREATE for type D of system role

While creating TR under an Urgent Correction CD (Maintenance Project with phase 'In Dev with Release'), user is not able to create TR due to the following error:

 

Unable to find task /TMWFLOW/SCMA_TRORDER_CREATE for type D of system role

EWA report software component not updating

Hello every one.

 

I am using Solution manager 7.1. My EWA report for production server(EHP5) working fine.

 

One think i noticed that under "support package maintenance - ABAP", for below components " Latest Avail. Patch level" is not updating.

For example SAP_HR SP 99 AVAILABLE in SMP but in my report showing 97. Similarly for other component it is showing.

license measurement log in central measurement system

Hello,

first of all, sorry for putting this question into the SAP Solution Manager section, I could not find any space, which is fitting better.

 

I was wondering, if one can create the license-measurement-log file (pdf-file) which can be created in transaction USMM on a client-side system, using a central license-measurement-system, with data received through transacion SLAW.

(I attached a screenshot, in which I marked the option, where one an create the above mentioned log)

 

In am running multiple SAP systems which are connected to a single system for gathering measurment-data via remote connection, through transaction SLAW. Now I would like to a have a brief overview regarding some of those systems (especially engine-data) and the client-side Log-file would be exactly what I am looking for.

I know the data is actually available in table LAWINBOXDATA on my central system, but I am looking for an option to create a similar PDF-overview, as it as possible on every single client-system.

Status of incident if replied

Hello expert,

 

we currently use solman 7.1 ST 12 and we have a question about the use of incident management, more specifically about the statusses of the incident when a reply is given.

 

So in our case: when a end-user replies on an incident which is in "customer action", "proposed solution" or "sent to SAP", the status of the incident will be "In process".

 

We want to change this status so we created a new status "processor action". How can we set this status to be the 'reply' status?

 

We already figured out the "transaction field" in transaction CRMBS02 is responsible for this action. So the "INPR" below. Where can we create a new "transaction" like "PROA" where we attach the "processor action" status in stead of the "INPR" that is linked with the status "PROC".

BPMon - Query on Due List Log

Hi Experts,

 

I have a question regarding BPMon Key Figure "Due List Log (Critical Messages)" .  Can you share your experience of how customers use this Key Figure?

 

What is the key difference between the  aggregation mode "hourly mode" and "log mode", and which is better .

 

We had some issues regarding the usability of this, particularly as it does not offer any Detailed Info of documents, or the Delivery Run number. So how does support team analyse these alerts.

Can't delete Solution (solution_has_open_children)

Hi all,

 

we try to delete an old/inactive solution.

If we press 'delete' we get an error and in SLG1 we

get the message:

 

'solution_has_open_children'

 

How can we delete the solution or the dependencies ?
