Solution Manager (Diagnostic Agent connection Error)

$

0

Good Day,

I hope someone could shed some light on the subject. Need clarification on Solution Manager Configuration.

During the System Preparation I need to connect the Diagnostic Agents to the SLD.

So this is how I understand it:

Solution Manager I Install:

  • SLD,
  • Wily Introscope,
  • Host Agent,
  • Diagnostic Agent

On my Satellite server i.e: DEV, QAS and Prod I Install:

  • Host Agent,
  • Diagnostic Agent.

What i did:

Solution Manager Diagnostic Installation:

  • SID: DAA
  • Register in Existing Central SLD: (Basically I am registering Diagnostic on Local Solman SLD)
  • SLD HTTP Host: (Solution Manager IP ADDRESS)
  • SLD HTTP PORT: 50000
  • SLD Data Supplier User: SMD_ADMIN ( For some reason it does not accept the SLDDSUSER, ALL Auth Correct. So went with SMD_ADMIN)
  • Configure Connection via Java SCS Message Server
  • HOST(FQN): (Solution Manager IP ADDRESS)
  • JAVA SCS Message Server HTTP Port: 8102 (02 is SOLMAN SCS Instance Nr)

Satellite Systems Diagnostic Installation:

  • SID: DAD (DEV), DAQ (QAS), DAP (PROD)
  • Register in Existing Central SLD: (Basically I am registering Diagnostic on Local Solman SLD)
  • SLD HTTP Host: (Solution Manager IP ADDRESS)
  • SLD HTTP PORT: 50000
  • SLD Data Supplier User: SMD_ADMIN ( For some reason it does not accept the SLDDSUSER, ALL Auth Correct)
  • Configure Connection via Java SCS Message Server
  • HOST(FQN): (Solution Manager IP ADDRESS)
  • JAVA SCS Message Server HTTP Port: 8102 (02 is SOLMAN SCS Instance Nr)

After each installation of the Diagnostic Agent I :

Update host_profile:

service/admin_users = <solmanhostname>\SAPServiceDAA <devhostname>\SAPServiceDAD <qashostname>\SAPServiceDAQ <prodhostname>\SAPServiceDAP

run Script:

smdsetup managingconf hostname:"sapms://(Solution manager FQDN, not IP address)" port:"8102" user:"smd_admin"pwd:"PASSWORD"

I restart each Diagnostic Agent.

Rerun Step 5.3 Create logical Ports.

Wait a few minutes. Then try and Get Agents on Step 6.3.

This is when the setup gives me two errors:

  1. 1. SOAP:1.023 SRT: Processing error in Internet Communication Framework: ("ICF Error when receiving the response: ICM_HTTP_CONNECTION_FAILED")
  2. 2. Web service invocation problem on host solman.cenored.com and port 80 protocol : http logical port name : LP_WS_SMDAGENT_MONITORING

What I have also noticed is on step 6.1 with SLD configuration it’s only showing 1 Agent (I presume solman’s)

So my question to you would be is my approach correct? Or Should I create an SLD on each satellite system and connect each Diagnostic Agent to its own local SLD and then add the local SLD’s in step 6.1 or can I leave it as is with only solman local SLD and all Diagnostic Agents connect to the single SLD.

The error seems to be in line with the Webservices not running or port being blocked or not open? Checked, all Ok.

Not sure what I am doing wrong any guidance would be very helpful. Not sure why I am getting this error and can’t find any info that has helped me resolve this issue.

Thank you

Johann

Start your plan change event with Scope and Effort Analyzer

The intension of this document to get basic understanding for Scope and Effort Analyzer so one can start SEA run comfortably.

Scope and Effort Analyzer is an innovative tool of SAP Solution Manager, available from 7.1 SP11, and it is very useful and beneficial for those SAP organizations who is looking to reduce the costs and efforts associated with major Maintenance or Enhancement Package (EHP) upgrade projects.

Key Differentiator

The key differentiator for SEA (Scope and Effort Analyzer) is that, it can predict the two major cost and effort drivers of maintenance project – "1. Development Managment and 2. Test Management" at the planning phase.

  • Identification of custom code and object modification adjustment, what has actually changed before actually upgrade. Early upgrade change impact analysis without physical EHP/SP installation.
  • Reducing the amount of test redundancy by identifying only those processes that need to be tested.

Automating change impact analysis and test scope identification before application of the Maintenance and EHP will significantly reduce the project planning and test execution phases of your project.

How SEA work

The solution manager is send the information of system and planned SP/EHP entered by the user to SAP. SAP calculates SAP Objects (TBOM)
for enhancement pack and send back to Solution Manager.
Solution Manager offers the impact analysis, effort calculation, test scope and effort optimization.

Preparation Of Scope and Effort Analyzer

Below are the Steps to start work with SEA based on our experience with SEA.

1. Finalize your scope for SEA

  • Planning of maintenance events such as SPs or EHP deployments. Identify the involved managed system for which SEA calculates the development and test effort.
  • Base on this decision choose the system role for SEA run.

The different system Roles are as:

Role 1: Custom development and modification analysis

It is recommended to Select the production system for this system role. This ensures that only those custom developments are analyzed that are actually deployed to production. If you wish to extend the analysis also to project work not yet released to production, you can choose other systems, such as a development system.

It is possible to run two SEA analysis – one with the dev system and the second run with the production system as source system for custom code and then compare both results.

Role 2: Read usage statistic:
Select Production system as only here actual usage information exist.

Role 3: Test scope optimization activities: Recommendation is to consider your Quality system here which is on the identical SP level as the production system. Reason
for selecting quality system is the TBOM. These TBOMs will be generated during the SEA run for this selected system which is generate significant load.

2. Complete Pre-requisite

Solution Manager

  • Install or upgrade your solution manager 7.1system up to the level SP11. Ensure component ST-BCO 7xx SP10 is available.
  • Complete basic configuration like System preparation, Basic Configuration and Managed System Preparation for all require Managed System.
  • The latest version of SAP Solution Manager Central Correction Note (CCN) shall be implemented. E.g. in case of SP11 the SAP note is 1933506, for SP12 it is 1969109 and for SP13 it is 2048215.
  • Get all require authorization.
  • Maintain all managed system properly in LMDB.
  • Maintenance Optimizer setup.
  • Maintain Valid S-User ID for the ID use in SEA run.

Managed System

  • The latest available version of the ST-PI component should be implemented (at least 2008_1_x SP 9)

SEA is extensively using usage analysis for UPL. With help of Usage and Procedure Logging technique it is now possible to calculate the
impact to custom code, modifications and business processes in consideration of the real system usage. Make sure that all productive systems you intend to
analyze fulfill the technical prerequisites for Usage and Procedure Logging (UPL) activation. Please refer SAP Note
1828848 - Usage and Procedure Logging: Technical prerequisite and 1955847 - UPL: Activation Procedure and Authorization Handling in SAP Solution Manager (SP5 - SP11)

You can also refer https://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700000427102012E  and http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-60682

Please note that Scope and Effort Analyzer can be used in absence of UPL data too, but with limitations based on the missing usage information. Without UPL data it is not possible to get the used or unused custom code objects and modifications. And it is also not possible to calculate savings by adjusting only used
objects.

Please note that without UPL data, it is not possible to generate semi-dynamic TBOMs. In this case only static TBOMs can be generated. Static TBOMs might be less effective compare to semi-dynamic TBOMs.

3. SEA Set up

Run SOLMAN_SETUP configuration step.

Custom Code Management (Steps 1 – 6 mandatory for SEA). This setup procedure activates UPL and custom code data collection. You can refer SAP note 1906451: Technical Preparation for Custom Code Management.

Please refer this link for SEA How to guide http://support.sap.com/content/dam/library/SAP%20Support%20Portal/support-programs-services/solution-manager/processes/Media%20Library/Test%20Management/HowToSEA.pdf

4. Check and Ensure your set up

Once you complete the all set up it is very important to know whether all set up done correctly without any issue and your all systems are ready now for SEA run. Please use below report to ensure your set up.

Run report AGS_BPCA_SELF_CHECK in SAP Solution Manager to verify the TBOM authorizations and UPL set up validation.

Check-Report for Custom Code Infrastructure. Use SAP Note 2077995

Ensure below jobs are completed in your Managed system without any error.

  • RSCVR_TRIGGER_COLLECT
  • /SDF/UPL_PERIODIC_EXT_JOB
  • /SDF/TCODE_SIMILARITY_IS
  • /SDF/CC_REFERENCES

Check and if necessary activate the ICF Services as described in SAP Note 1983399. Call transaction SICF and search for the following services:

  • /sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/ags_sea
  • /sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/AGSSEA_ANALYSIS
  • /sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/AGSSEA_CREATE_ANALYSIS

5. Data colletion Run

Once your UPL is active, it is recommended to collect at least 3 month data before you start SEA Run. In exception you can start work with at least 4 week data. The intension here to collect maximum usage information of your managed system including some time specific actions like monthly, quarterly or yearly activities.

6. Run Scope and Effort Analyzer

Call transaction code SOLMAN_WORKCENTER and Select WorkCentre then Implementation / Upgrade - Plan - Create or view Scope and Effort Analysis. This will open the main screen of Scope and Effort Analyzer. Complete all steps of Guided procedure, user help documentation available for each Step of the Guided Procedure.

Kindly refer How to Guide document for detail.

Some important points:

  • Once you select your require system (as per described in first point “Finalize scope of SEA) in specify additional system, please do “Perform checks”. This will ensure the fulfillment of all prerequisites of each selected system,
  • For business blue print selection session it is recommended to select the option Create a Project and Business Blueprint for executables not covered or in case if you have existing blueprint for the project use combine approach. After SEA run new project will be created automatically, which will contain modular base business blue print and the Custom developed executables are detected as well and assigned under a special blueprint node “CUSTOMER – Customer Executables” and structured by development classes, in case they are available.
  • Under Test Scope_test scope optimization_Test Case Recommendation for creating Test Cases you can specify the limit - up to which, test coverage percentage for automated tests can be considered. These values can be changed in the analysis result view later.
  • From “Continue Target system definition” you will reach at Maintenance Optimizer. Here perform up to the 3rd step - download files.
  • Start analysis from Work Center in SAP Solution Manager. You can track status of background jobs in SAP Solution Manager system.

The background processing can take up to several days depending on the amount of data to be analyzed and collected (for example to read and analyze the impact to custom code objects or to generate the semi-dynamic TBOMs). SEA does provide a processing log to monitor the progress of the background tasks.

Once all background jobs are finish the analysis result report is available for collection and further project related usage.

Here are some important list of notes, which you can consider if you are facing any issue in Analysis run.

2053406            ST-PI Version/Level to low

The problem is when you try to choose a particular business partner  from the F4 help, the field remains blank.

Tried a lot but unable to resolve this problem. Please help in understanding and resolving this issue.

Confused about ST-PI Versions.

Good Morning everyone,

I was wondering ...

What exactly is the difference between ST-PI 2008 and ST-PI 740 and when do I use which one ?

What are the Minimum Requirements ?

Could I use it with Basis Release 7.31 and 7.02 and which ST-PI would be the better choice ?

Summary of historical activity levels: most popular T-Codes and sub-modules for our users?

$

Hello, I've posted this in Business Warehouse, but a moderator suggested posting it here also.

We are doing a comprehensive review of our financial ERP systems and how we use SAP. My assignment is to prioritize a list of sub-modules and T-codes for review, and I am to prioritize these based on user activity. I will be conducting a user survey, but I need to support it with back-end analysis. How can I view data on:

  • Which sub-modules of FI have the heaviest user activity?
  • Which T-Codes are run most frequently, and by whom?
  • Which sub-modules and T-Codes have the most diverse user activity? (Highest number of distinct regular users)

I am not very familliar with Solution Manager, but the moderator mentioned standard Earlywatch reports. I will appreciate any further information about how to pursue this data. I have a lot to learn about SAP, so I am always open to additional research/reading if you can point me in a good direction for this question.

Do It Yourself: Technical Operations Dashboards in 7.1

$
0
0

Fellow Members,

Background: It's been a quite a long time, I was in a kind of hibernation from SCN. I thought of sharing some interesting stuffs I learnt recently. I use the term 'interesting' since, prior to this, I had no clue on how to write a code or written a single line of code in my career as a SAP Consultant.

We all know from the 7.2 promo videos and webinars, that,  there will be many UI5 based dashboards are on offer for Technical Monitoring, BPO etc, which is great news and we are all looking forward to it. I hope this release will have a quick to access reports and dashboards in a central place giving a break to "so many clicks here and there" type of complaints you hear often from customers for any solman functionality you demo to them.

We all know, Management Dashboards and CIO dashboards are most sought after features in technical space nowadays. Some customers may want to extend the same 'look&feel' of Mgmt Dashboards to other reports and graphs available in Solution Manager 7.1 workcenters. Recently I came across a unique situation where I had to make a simple dashboards for intelligently displaying some of the most important reports already available in various workcenters of Technical Operations in 7.1. In short, senior management team from IT side wanted to "see" all the possible reports in "one place" with a single click of a button. I suggested them to bookmark all the workcenter links and dashboard URLs in their browser , however that was not a satisfying answer for them for obvious reasons.   So I googled and found out that we can make custom HTML5 and CSS based website look alikes or mock dashboards which can be used to meet such demands. The result would be a whole new way of accessing and displaying the same reports from workcenter in a dashboard look and feel way ! Or something like this;

sshot-1.jpg

How do you build such dashboards?

It is a not a much difficult task, you need to have a CSS, Javascript and HTML basic coding knowledge. There are many free to use templates available in github & sourceforge, which you can use as a reference. Most important thing to remember here is, we are neither developing any z reports out of Solution Manager 7.1 nor writing any BW queries, but we are just fetching the data from workcenter and displaying them in a structured way. For this,the most useful HTML5 feature I use is, the <iframe> tag to specifies an inline frame. An inline frame is used to embed another document within the current HTML document. So I create a HTML page and then use <iframe> feature to display a report from workcenter. Any workcenter graph would have seamless display within your HTML page; for example; the Availability  reports from Interactive Reporting would look like this;

sshot-3.jpg

Or this report in a dashboard showing User Activity on a Monthly Basis;

sshot-2.png

sshot-3.png

Or a System Monitoring entry page (Technical Monitoring Workcenter> System Monitoring> Select All Systems> Open in a new Window) can be displayed like below; here is an unique advantage for such display;the below page in workcenter has auto refresh window starting from 5 minutes unless you manually refresh the browser. If you embed this view in a HTML page and use <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="30" > code, then the page auto refreshes every 30 seconds, fetching latest ratings.

sshot-4.jpg

sshot-1.jpg

Or go for a Inception concept with CIO dashboards ( Dashboard within a Dashboard within a Dashboard (?))

sshot-7.jpg

At the end, your goal is to have a  single html page for the every URL from workcenter you want to display; to do that, you need to deploy all the individual HTMLs on a tomcat. For me it was something like below after the completion of all the dashboards creation;

sshot-5.jpg

Now you can deploy these pages on a Tomcat so that these dashboards are accessible company wide with a single click. To deploy it on a tomacat, download the latest tomcat from https://tomcat.apache.org/download and place the entry page (index.html) in the webapps folder along with the rest of the files (css, js and htmls) like below. Place this tomcat folder along with all the content on a server. I usually deploy it on a solman server itself so that it is consistent with rest of the URLs;

sshot-6.jpg

Now you are good to go; just type http://<server where you placed these files>:8080/index.html in a browser and you have your own dashboards !

sshot-8.jpg

Hope this helps; and I am curious to know if any of you would try such tasks If so, please leave a screenshot of your dashboards; so that I would know that I am not the only person getting such requests from customers

Hi

We are on Solman 7.1 SP12 and are trying to reassign a change document (ZMMJ) to another project.

It works fine for me but I have a high level of authorizations.

For other users of ChaRM, they click on Edit (in CRM Web Client) > Reassign Change and then a search box appears.

However, when they click on search they cannot view any projects (when I click search I can).

I've searched everywhere online but can't find what authorization is missing.

Can anyone help?

Thanks
